Crazy for You, Demented Bunnies, and Tests Galore

Dear Friends and Family,

Well, it's been awhile but it's time for another update on the ever so exciting life of Jonathan Granger. Riveting isn't it? Fine, if you don't want to know what the subject line is all about, then I guess you can go ahead and do something more productive and worthwhile. Just delete this message and go check your hair for lice or under your bed for monsters, maybe you could better spend your time reading the thousands of chain e-mails you get each day or check those e-mails wanting you to apply for a new Visa card. The point is that I will try to make this go as quickly as possible for both you as well as me, but no guarantees (hey, that rhymed; I guess that's what happens when you go to college to get more knowledge...).

First of all classes. All of my classes are going quite well. If you remember my first e-mail, then I won't go into depth about my teachers; and if you don't, then go back to your inbox and re-read it (or not, it's up to you). Anyways, my 7:40 theology class has one last test before the final...and it's tomorrow. I guess that I should be studying, but I'm not...I'll keep you posted on what happened. Next, my contemporary issues class is over on Wednesday when we have our final. This means that on MWF I can finally eat breakfast! Well, my communications class is dull and ridiculous as usual. I'm not a big fan of my teacher. He expects you to understand what he wants from you the first time; and if you try to clarify what he wants, he gets exasperated and says, "I told you what I want...." and then tells you again the same way he explained it before. It's quite aggravating especially when it comes to speeches and we don't know how he's grading us. Oh well, my psychology professor is amazing and hilarious. Her husband was running for county Sheriff and won, so she's pretty happy about that. Now my humanities professor, he's still dry and boring. Though the tests are easy if you study the notes. He reminds me of a mix between Mr. Rogers and the teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It's quite an interesting mix, eh? Finally, my geography professor loves to be goofy and give us random extra points on all of our tests, which is fine by me. Though right after Thanksgiving I have a project due...I have to create my own country and write a twelve paragraph paper on it complete with a map and pictures. That'll be fun?

Now that you've gotten through the first essay, on to the next. I got into the musical here called "Crazy for You," and I was a cowboy. It closed about two weekends ago and the last weekend my mother and grandparents came down to see it (and me too). It was a good experience, I met a lot of fun theatre people, and it took up just enough of the semester that I wasn't overwhelmed with it. For Halloween, here in Lynchburg there is a "haunted forest/house" thing called "Scaremare." It attempts to basically "scare" people to Christ. They present a good gospel message through the project and about a thousand people came to Christ in the three weekends that it was going on. It was complete with chainsaws, strobe lights, clowns, and demented bunnies. I also volunteered at the Thomas Road Baptist Church for their annual Kids Karnival (an alternative to Halloween). I helped set up the night before the event. There's only a few more weeks left to this semester before finals start and classes are winding down. Our mid-terms were in the middle of October and many classes only have one test left in them. I scheduled my classes for next semester and I declared my minor....PIANO. So I have to sign up for lessons for next semester as well. I also got a keyboard for my room (thanks Mom) that I can also hook up to my laptop to compose. I couldn't live without it.

My roommate, Ronnie, is great. He has some undesirable traits, but who doesn't? My other roommate, Leland, tends to keep the heat on (now that it's down in the forties) at 150 degrees. GOSH! It bakes me and Ronnie to death! I'm surprised that we're not already baked to a crisp. Ronnie, myself, and my friend in the other room Bobby are try to move Leland into Bobby's room and Bobby into ours. We'll see how that works out.

Well, now that you have an update on my life you can look forward to the next installment. I probably won't send out another mass e-mail until December after classes are over. Thanks for reading this far and now I had better start studying for my theology exam. Have a great day! And for all those who have veterans in their families thank you on this Veterans Day!
