Hey everyone,
This week at Grace Baptist Church, my home church in MA, we are celebrating Jesus' miraculous power during VBS. In fact, I am able to spend the whole week singing, dancing, acting, and encouraging kids up onstage every morning! The first day we learned about thankfulness and let me tell you we ALL need to be more thankful ALL the time (Colossians 3:15). Today, we learned that we can help others through Jesus' power (Romans 12:13).
Let me just say that these kids are totally psyched to be there everyday to learn about God (or to have fun, but I think it's both). There's a lesson to be gleaned here. Are we psyched to learn about God every time we read His Words? Do we jump us and down with gladness for He sits on the throne? Have we taken time to ask God for His power instead of relying on our own strength?
I'm going to answer these from my life's experience. No, I'm not psyched to learn from God's Word especially when reading through chapter after chapter of genealogies, yet I should. No, most of the time I go about my daily routine not giving a care that Jesus is in totally in control on His throne. No, I rely on my strength to get things done instead of letting God work through me in His strength.
We ALL need to learn a lesson from these kids at VBS. God commands us to have child-like faith, but I'm going to branch out and say God wants to to be like kids and be totally pumped up and psyched when we even hear His name mentioned. Let's all try to be like kids again, okay? C'mon it's not THAT hard. I'll do it with you, get pumped up for Jesus today!
